WELCOME

Join me in our fourth annual "Light up the Night-Hartland" at dusk on December 24, 2024. Your luminaria kit purchase will directly support families in need in Lake Country. This year, all proceeds will be given to Lake Country Caring, a 100 percent volunteer-based, nonprofit organization that provides basic necessities at no cost to those in need.

HISTORY

The tradition of lighting luminaries to decorate outdoor paths on Christmas Eve was a custom that originated in Mexico many years ago. It is a custom that many different cultures around the world have instituted. Our family was first introduced to the tradition while we lived in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, where the community has celebrated with luminaries for over 50 years. Families throughout the town light up pathways and driveways with luminaries every Christmas Eve. It is an incredibly beautiful tradition that brings together the community with the feeling of light and hope for the New Year. It became one of our favorite holiday traditions and when we moved to Hartland in 2020, we wanted to share this breathtaking experience with our new community. In 2021 Lauren Sherman decided to bring the luminaria tradition to Lake Country, and established Light Up the Night-Hartland, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
